JP Rankin
Founder & Owner Attorney
JP comes to Charleston from San Diego, California where he worked in the hospitality industry after obtaining his undergraduate degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara. Shortly after obtaining his JD from California Western School of Law, he joined WestPac WealthPartners and became a financial representative and a certified general securities representative. This allowed him to be of service to as many people struggling to get their financials in order as he could. After being sworn in, JP opened his own law practice in California to assist some of those same people with their trusts, wills, and estates.
Since moving to the East Coast at the end of 2021, JP has also become licensed in North Carolina as well as in South Carolina making him licensed in three states. At the beginning of 2024, JP and his wife Diane made the decision to move to the beautiful city of Charleston, where JP founded Rankin Law Firm, LLC. They have since welcomed their baby girl Everly June Rankin into the world. When he is not at the office, JP can be found playing fetch with his pittie-boxer Walter on Sullivan’s Island beach, cheering on the Charleston Battery as well as Charlotte FC, cruising around downtown on his golf cart, and exploring and enjoying the many restaurants and bars around Charleston.

Ava Ambler
Legal Assistant
Ava is a lifelong West Virginia native and proud graduate of West Virginia University. She recently relocated to South Carolina to pursue her law degree and is now a rising 2L at Charleston School of Law. At Charleston Law, Ava is an active member of the Business Law Society and serves as a Student Ambassador. In her free time, Ava enjoys walking her dogs on the beach, exploring new restaurants around Charleston, and playing pickleball!
